H. Thomas Waring, president and chief executive officer
Mr. Waring has more than 40 years of experience in all facets of lodging and real estate development, including hotels, conference center, single- and multi-family residential, manufactured housing parks, manufactured and modular home sales, self-storage and general commercial.
Mr. Waring continues to give of his time and talent to St. Mary's College of Maryland, the College of Southern Maryland, and countless community causes in southern Maryland.
Raymond J. Wernecke, executive vice president and chief operating officer
Prior to joining Cherry Cove in September 2006, Mr. Wernecke spent nearly 20 years serving the United States Navy in various customer service capacities. Most recently, he was the Director for Corporate Operations for the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), located aboard the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Maryland. Mr. Wernecke was responsible for planning and executing the NAWC's corporate operations services; delivering civilian and military human resources, information and personnel security, public affairs/protocol, business and financial management, infrastructure business operations, and command strategic leadership programs.
Mr. Wernecke holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson State University. In 2006, he graduated from Leadership Maryland, a thriving network of informed, engaged leaders who are helping shape the future of Maryland. Mr. Wernecke is also a graduate of the NAVAIR Senior Executive Management Development Program and the Federal Executive Institute. He serves on the board of directors of the St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce, the St. Mary's County Community Development Corporation, and The College of Southern Maryland Foundation. He is also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as worship assistant and Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Wernecke lives in Leonardtown with his wife Helen, daughter Kate, son Sam, and mother Marge.
Lucy E. Wallace, senior vice president, controller
Ms. Wallace has 30 years of experience in accounting, financial control and cash management while serving as Cherry Cove's controller.
As controller, Ms. Wallace directs, coordinates, maintains and controls the administrative and accounting processes and systems that properly reflect the financial health of Cherry Cove.
Ms. Wallace earned her associate's degree in accounting from the College of Southern Maryland. She lives in California with her husband George, where she enjoys spending time with family and especially her wonderful grandchildren.
Brian Norris, senior vice president, infrastructure and development
Mr. Norris has nearly three decades of residential construction experience and oversees Cherry Cove's design, build, development and infrastructure maintenance operations.
Mr. Norris lives in Leonardtown with his wife Kim, daughters Jacqueline and Kateline, and son Jonathon.
Mr. Norris is an avid fisherman, is active in his church, and enjoys boating with his family.
Harry J. Weitzel, senior vice president, chief financial officer
Mr. Weitzel has 30 years of experience in domestic and international banking, merchant banking and venture capital. For the past 10 years, he has served as the chief financial and administrative officer for Cherry Cove's hospitality operation.
Mr. Weitzel earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Finance from Johns Hopkins University. He has also completed coursework at the George Washington University Graduate School of Business and The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
Mr. Weitzel contributes much of his leadership time to St. Mary's College of Maryland, serving as trustee emeritus; director of the college's foundation; chair of its investment committee, and chairman of its Center for the Study of Democracy.
When he's not rooting for his beloved Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team, Harry and his wife Jan actively participate in countless community-wide events.
Tammy Grant, director of operations, Cherry Cove Property Management
Ms. Grant has 15 years of dedicated property management experience with Cherry Cove, overseeing the leasing, maintenance, and security operations for nearly 500 apartment, manufactured home, office and self-storage units. Ms. Grant and her staff handle all aspects of customer service and quality assurance.
Ms. Grant is pursuing a degree in business and information technology at the College of Southern Maryland. She enjoys spending time with her family.
